A Little Means A Lot
Join our November giving campaign by making a purchase.
There was a bleak headline in the Irish Examiner last month that said business insolvencies will reach 900 by the end of 2024. Retail and hospitality are being impacted the most from rising costs, post-pandemic shifts and tighter consumer spending. Not surprisingly, small businesses make up the most of the closures.
Being a small business owner in 2024 is very different than it was just 5 years ago. Our sales are down by more than 50% compared to 2023 - and yet, we are lucky. I got a regular job last year, like many other Irish business owners, which eases the financial stress and lets us keep Literary Lip Balms running. We still enjoy creating good products and we are not quite ready to let that go.
We believe the tough economic times will pass, eventually. There are other things happening in the world right now that will take longer to fix.
For the month of November, we will donate €1 of every product sold (roughly 5-10% of our total sales) to Amnesty International. Every purchase from our website will count.
If you own a business and would like to donate part of your sales in November or December, leave a comment below and we will link to your website in this post.
