Studio Update: We Are Moving!

A big and slightly scary milestone for our business. From next month, all orders will be shipped by a distribution partner.

Since we started our business journey in 2016, we have been creating, packing and operating from a tiny apartment. During this time, Literary Lip Balms has evolved from being a side hustle to a full-time job, and our products are now found in multiple shops in Ireland and abroad - including museums and bookshops. 

It's been quite an adventure and we couldn't be more grateful.

At the same time, it is no secret that working in a small space is challenging. It limits what we can do creatively and makes it tough to step away from our work when we need to.

In order to preserve our sanity, we have decided to make a big change:

Starting from mid-August, we are partnering up with a family-owned distributor to handle customers orders. Our products will all still be lovingly made by hand in our studio in Ireland, but stored and shipped from our fulfilment center in Northern Ireland.

Above: Lack of storage space means that we often need to make products to order, which is time-consuming and expensive.

So, what does this mean for you? Your orders will process faster - yay! - and everything will be tracked so that you can see where the parcel is. We don't expect shipping costs to change much, but we will come back with further details in the coming weeks. 

On the flip side, we need to reduce the number of products we carry. Lip tints, candles, cards, accessories, face oils and a number of seasonal items will not be stocked by our distributor in the initial stage of our move. We might bring them back later, but for now we try to keep things - somewhat - manageable.

We have created a "Last Chance" section for products we don't intend to restock in the foreseeable future. Don't wait too long if you want to buy any of these! 

While this milestone is incredibly exciting, it is also bittersweet to no longer personally pack your orders. Our hope is that it will give us the mental and physical space to focus on the creative side of the business, improving our products, and keep providing you with a fantastic shopping experience.
